Stop Striving for Perfection
Have you ever heard someone say that they were trying to be perfect? I've heard this said many times by people from all walks of life. I feel the desire to be perfect is holding people back from living the lives they desire. They have bought in whole heartedly that perfection is attainable when there is no way any person can ever possibly achieve it.
Think about it for a second each and every human being is flawed and makes mistakes. It is who we are and wishing we were people flawless won't make us perfect. It makes us crazy!
Perfection is a myth. There is nothing wrong with trying to be our best, but fooling ourselves just to make us feel better is not the right approach.
Being Imperfect is an Advantage
So we are not perfect, but what if I told you your imperfections were an advantage would you believe me? Because we are imperfect, failure will always be a part of our lives, and history shows those who use their failures as stepping stones are able to achieve tremendous levels of success. Therefore, I encourage you to embrace your imperfections and use them as your advantage.
Acknowledging Your Imperfection Reduces Your Stress
People I've known who have tried to pursue the ideal of perfection always seemed to be worked up and full of stress, because they were afraid of making mistakes and falling short of the mark. They tend to work excessively feeling that no matter what they do it is never good enough. This leads them to be short with others and judgemental of those they feel aren't doing enough.
However, once you realize failure is a part of your life you can start to learn from your mistakes. Once you learn this you join the ranks of the greats like Abraham Lincoln, Alexander Graham Bell, Babe Ruth and so many others who capitalized on their missed opportunities to springboard them into incredible successes. Self imposed barriers will no longer hold you back and you'll be able to achieve whatever you desire.
Therefore, I encourage you to reconsider your thoughts on being perfect, and I ask you to realize that you can do so much more by embracing your failures to accelerate your growth beyond your beliefs.
